In the latest Airtime version 2.0.4 we added a CuePlayer function that allows to listen the spots before approving the traffic log. Unfortunately this has meant that Airtime will now depend on QuickTime. QT must be installed on the same machine where Airtime is. If you have already iTunes installed, then there is no additional work required.

We have made an agreement with Apple that we can distribute the simple installer of QuickTime so we can make sure that the version is correct. It has been also a bit challenging sometimes to find out the QT installer that doesn’t come with iTunes from the Apple website so this is additional service in that sense as well.

The decision to support use QuickTime instead of Windows Media Player or anything else was made because QuickTime has better support on broadcast specific sound formats, such as MPEG1Layer2.
